Chateau Petrus

France > Bordeaux > Libournais > Pomerol

Current owner Cristian Moueix and his wife don't holiday in the summer, preferring to work on their own vines. Over the last 50 years Petrus has risen from obscurity to become perhaps the most famous name in Bordeaux.

It is called simply Petrus because there is no chateau on the estate. A strict policy of discarding green grapes before harvesting ensures the remaining fruit is top quality. Up to 30,00 bottles, not cases are produced annually. In short, Petrus has become an icon. It is elegant, subtle and hugely sought after. The 2008 is particularly fine with great long-term potential.
