Chateau Lafleur

France > Bordeaux > Libournais

Just 1,000 cases come from this 4 hectare chateau every year and many experts regard it as the main rival to Petrus.

In fact, it is so rare many serious wine fans have never seen it, let alone tried a glass. Even the 'lesser' vintages of this Pomerol will comfortably keep for 30-40 years. Lafleur is the only Pomerol property with such a high concentration of cabernet franc in it and benefits from five different soil types on the estate. Jacques Guinaudeau and his wife Sylvie took full control in 2005 and the family works on every vine themselves. There is no chateau on the site just an ordinary looking farmhouse. Nevertheless it is an extraordinary place producing exceptional wine.
