Once described by Hugh Johnson as a ‘suave equilibrium of force and finesse with the hints of earth and fern, tobacco and caramel’.
This is an unusual chateau because, like its brother La Mission, it is close to the heart of Bordeux but is surrounded by private homes. Already sumptuous, the 2005 will only get better with cellaring and will probably be at its best from 2017 onwards. The 1989 is dark crimson, powerful and hard to forget.
